Theme suggestions sought for El Dorado Christmas Parade

The El Dorado Christmas Parade, an ongoing tradition that started in 1979, will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 6.

This year, officials with the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce are looking for parade theme suggestions from the community. Anyone with an idea for a theme should submit the idea at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ChristmasTheme2018.

The chamber will be accepting ideas for the theme from Sept. 19-26 with the winner being announced on Sept. 28.

A gift card donated by Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar will awarded to the person who submits the winning idea.

United Way to hold annual Small Business Blitz

The United Way of Union County will hold their annual Small Business Blitz on Sept. 19 to raise funds for the 2018-2019 campaign. The campaign goal this year is $1.5 million.

Loaned executives from area businesses, paired with United Way agency representatives, will visit small businesses to solicit pledges and donations for this campaign.

United Way of Union County is specifically involved in services for children and youth; emergencies and basic needs; victims and special needs; and health and education. Local contributions last year helped the United Way of Union County raise $1.2 million for its local agencies - making hundreds of programs possible and serving more than 30,000 people in this community.
