City Arrests:

• Charlette N. Manning, 26, of 226 Union 406, was arrested Oct. 18 on a Union County Sheriff’s Office warrant for aggravated assault and filing a false police report.

• Latetkie E. Carter, 44, of 2040 Lakeland, was arrested Oct. 18 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for parole violation.

• Davante M. Jackson, 19, of 301 Moorewood Road, Apt. 1521, was arrested Oct. 18 on a warrant for first-degree terroristic threatening. Jackson’s girlfriend reported Oct. 15 that he issued terroristic threats against her and her family members.

• Leslie M. Craig, 30, who gave an address of 3019 N. West Ave., No. 150, was arrested Oct. 16 on a Titus County, Texas, warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

• Paige N. Moody, 27, of 610 Robinson, was arrested Oct. 14 for breaking or entering and possession instruments of crime. A man told police that Moody came to his residence in the 800 block of West Block and he asked her to leave because she appeared intoxicated. He said he then heard the door to his vehicle open and saw Moody inside the vehicle. He said he removed Moody from the vehicle and called police, noting that the vehicle’s ignition had been broken. Police said they located Moody in the 800 block of West Hillsboro and took her into custody. During a search incident to arrest, officers said they found inside Moody’s brassiere a pipe that is believed to have been used to smoke narcotics.

City Reports:

• Police received a report Oct. 19 that someone used the Mel’s Seafood, 707 S. Timberlane, business name to open fraudulent business accounts with AT&T. An employee told police that AT&T closed the accounts after being notified of the fraud.

• A man told police Oct. 18 that someone broke into his residence in the 1300 block of West Faulkner and stole a TV and videogame controller.

• A woman reported Oct. 18 that someone fraudulently used her name upon receiving a recent traffic citation. The woman said she learned of the fraud when she received an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on the traffic violation.

• On Oct. 17, a woman told officers that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 500 block of West Eighth. She said the glove compartment and center console were opened, but no items were missing.

• El Dorado city employees reported Oct. 17 that they found a 9mm, semi-automatic handgun on the ground in the 500 block of West 19th.

• A woman told police Oct. 17 that someone stole her vehicle — a red, 2005 GMC Canyon — from her residence in the 1100 block of West Fourth.

• A man reported Oct. 16 an attempted burglary at his residence in the 1100 block of Pine. Police said there were pry marks on the door and damage to the doorframe and a lock. The complainant said it did not appear as if the suspect(s) entered the residence.

• A woman told police Oct. 16 that someone broke into her residence in the 1400 block of Champagnolle and stole a TV, DVD player, 80 DVDs and her wallet, which contained $130 cash, two debit cards, a Social Security card and a state government-issued identification card. The woman identified a possible suspect.

• A man reported Oct. 16 the theft of a cellphone and two necklaces from his residence in the 700 block of West Oak.

• A man told police Oct. 16 that someone entered two vehicles at his residence in the 1300 block of Combs and stole $100 cash from one of them.

• A woman told police Oct. 15 that a woman she knew stole and fraudulently used her debit card, amassing debits totaling $819. The complainant said the suspect admitted taking the card and promised to repay the stolen amount but later reneged on the promise.

• Officers responded Oct. 15 to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1300 block North Martin Luther King. A woman told police that her boyfriend struck her and choked her during an argument. She said he left the residence prior to officers’ arrival. Police said the woman had a busted lip and there was blood on her shirt.

• On Oct. 15, a woman told police that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 500 block of East Seventh and stole $60 cash.

• A woman told police Oct. 15 that someone fraudulently used her name to open an account with Entergy. She learned the account was closed in September and that $60 had been charged to the account, according to a police report. She said the account was opened for a residence in the 1400 block of Ponderosa Drive, and an Entergy statement bearing her name had been sent to a residence in the 600 block of Nick Springs Road.

• A woman told police Oct. 15 that she found a Social Security card and birth certificate near the intersection of Jefferson and Church. Police traced the owner of the documents to a residence in the 100 block of Church, and upon arriving at the residence, they saw that the passenger window had been shattered in a vehicle that was parked in front of the residence. Reported stolen from the vehicle was a purse and two wallets, one which contained $34 cash, the birth certificate and Social Security card. Several other vehicle break-ins were reported overnight in the area, including two in the 1700 block of North Jefferson. One of the complainants in the 1700 block of North Jefferson said the suspect(s) took her wallet, which contained $20 cash, two checkbooks, a credit card, driver’s license and Social Security card. She said a man informed her that he found several of the items on East Sixth Street. Vehicle break-ins were also reported in the 500 block of East Ninth, 600 block of East Seventh and 1400 block of North Madison. Items that were reported stolen in the 500 block of East Ninth included $1,000 cash and prescription medication. A resident in the 600 block of East Seventh told police that $5 cash and a pair of earbuds were missing.

• On Oct. 14, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1700 block of East Cedar. A woman told officers that her boyfriend left the residence with her cellphone and house key, ignoring her requests to return the items. She said he returned to the house a short time later and screamed for her to come outside. She said he then came through the back door, entered the kitchen and shoved a knife into her roommate’s side. The suspect threatened “to kill” her roommate if the complainant did not come outside, according to a police report. She said she went outside and her boyfriend struck her in the head twice and ran south after neighbors said police had been called. The complainant’s roommate provided a similar account of the incident, noting that her children were present when the incident occurred. The second woman said she was not injured in the incident.

• A woman told police Oct. 14 that someone entered her vehicle in the 1300 block of East Block and stole her wallet, which contained $80 cash, a bank card, several credit cards, a driver’s license and Social Security card.

• A man told police Oct. 12 that someone entered his vehicles at his residence in the 1100 block of North Calion and stole two touch-screen radios, three vehicle batteries and two CD players. He said an air compressor and weed eater were stolen from the driveway and carport, respectively.

• A woman told police Oct. 14 that she was robbed at gunpoint while inside her vehicle at the intersection of Edmonds and Miles. The woman said she was traveling north on Miles and passed a male as she approached the intersection. When she stopped for cross-traffic, the male ran up to the passenger window, shouted, “Hey! Hey!” and pointed a pistol at her. She said the suspect reached through the window and took her purse from the passenger seat. She said the purse contained $6, identification and Social Security cards, prescription medication and a key.

• A man told police Oct. 13 that someone fraudulently used his identity in an attempt to open a credit card account. He said he learned that a pre-approved credit application with his name had been sent to a previous address in the 800 block of North Yocum.

• On Oct. 12, police responded to a report of breaking or entering of several storage units at T&T Cycle, 3011 E. Main. No items were reported missing. The owner of the property said someone broke into the storage units approximately three weeks ago and stole a rifle, five car stereos and a coin jar. A possible suspect was identified.

County Arrests

• On Oct. 12, Jason W. Hicks, 37, of Smackover was arrested for a felony parole violation. An officer was driving along Pershing Highway when he observed a vehicle with a headlamp not working. He conducted a traffic stop and was able to determine that Hicks had a warrant for a parole violation.

• On Oct. 12, Alex J. Fikes, 76, of Strong was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons. One of his neighbors reported that he was acting aggressively toward her and threatening her. The woman said she knew him to carry a gun and as they interacted, he kept his hand on the pocket he typically carries it in, so she was worried. The man said he was just walking with his hands in his pockets as usual and said all he told the neighbor was to mind her own business. Fikes admitted that he did own a gun, but that it was in his house. Officers searched his home with his permission after learning he was a felon and they discovered the firearm.

• On Oct. 14, Sean M. Ashley, 42, of Jacksonville was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespassing, driving on a suspended license and a felony parole violation. A man reported that someone was trespassing on his leased hunting land. When an officer arrived, he discovered a black SUV stuck in a mud puddle and attempting to get out. The officer detained Ashley after he got out of the SUV and ran his license, at which point he discovered Ashley’s license had been cancelled. At that point, Ashley was arrested for driving without a license and criminal trespass. When Ashley was searched at the Union County Jail, officers discovered a small baggie of what appeared to be methamphetamine in his front coin pocket.

On Oct. 17, Daniel A. McBride, 27, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance (other/Xanax pills) with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer observed a small truck with no license plate lamp and attempted to conduct a traffic stop; the driver did not stop for approximately a quarter of a mile, during which time the officer observed the driver reaching between his legs and pulling over once he sat up straight. Once stopped, the officer asked McBride why he waited so long to stop and why he seemed so nervous before asking him to come speak outside his vehicle. McBride said he wasn’t reaching for anything under his seat and eventually consented to a search of his vehicle, at which point the officer located the prohibited items under the driver’s seat of his vehicle. McBride denied that any of the items belonged to him.

County Reports

On Oct. 14, a man was issued a citation for failure to pay fines. The man was parked in a ditch with his hazard lights on attempting to air up a flat tire when an officer stopped to offer assistance. The officer asked for the man’s drivers license and determined he had a warrant out for failure to pay.

On Oct. 14, a woman reported that she believed a man she had an order of protection against had violated the order. She said a neighbor told her they’d seen an older car in the driveway of her house and a man outside of her home. She said she noticed her hallway door was closed when she returned home and said she had an easier time than usual turning her key, which raised her suspicions. She said she had not heard from him in over three years until this incident.

On Oct. 15, a couple reported a burglary at their home in Wildwood Circle. When an officer responded to the residence, the couple walked him through the home; inside, couch cushions had been removed and thrown to the floor and electronics were stolen from the living room. In the bedroom, the mattress and bed sheets had been removed from the bed and tossed on the ground, along with knick knacks from around the room. The bathroom was in a similar state. The stolen property included: an Xbox One, a 65” Samsung flat screen television, a 32” Sanyo television and a black Dell laptop. Three people at the scene denied involvement.

On Oct. 15, a woman reported that her vehicle had been broken into. The woman said when she went to leave for work, she noticed that her car door stood open, along with the center console and the glove box; the console and the glove box appeared to have been rifled through. The woman said there was a ratchet and screwdriver on the ground in front of the car. The woman said she locked her car the previous night. The woman said her purse, which contained her bank card, social security card, notary card and cash was stolen, along with a pair of high heels valued at $100. The woman’s health insurance card was later recovered at the Econo Lodge hotel. Her debit card was later used at a Mobil gas station.

On Oct. 15, a man reported that his son and cousin were at their leased hunting land in Faircrest when a neighbor shot towards them. The man said the neighbor was doing target practice with a bucket on his side of the property, but that he was shooting in their direction. The man said they were unable to get the man’s attention by yelling.

On Oct. 15, a man reported that his property was damaged on Emma Drive. The man said the gate that led to the property behind his house and one of its posts had been torn down. The man valued the fence post at $75 and the gate at $65.

On Oct. 15, officers performed a welfare check on Magnolia Highway. A woman reported that she was feeling suicidal and asked for deputies to come check on her. An officer responded and spent some time speaking with her about the problems that were causing her to feel depressed. The woman told the officer she felt better after speaking with him.

On Oct. 16, an employee of the Mystic Creek Golf Course reported that their mailbox had been stolen. The mailbox along with the post it was attached to were pulled from the ground and stolen, according to the police report. The mailbox was described as black with a locking mechanism on the inside.

On Oct. 16, a man reported that his 30’ gooseneck trailer had been stolen. The man said he last saw it parked on Old Reed Place, where it had been parked for several years, about two weeks ago. He said the trailer had flat tires and no lights or tags on it.

On Oct. 16, a man reported that the residence he was supposed to work at appeared to have been broken into. A pest controller went to a residence on Sherwood Street and saw that two back windows had been broken out.

On Oct. 16, a man reported that several fake geese had been stolen from his residence. He said the geese were stolen on October 13 and he was able to capture it on security camera.

On Oct. 16, a woman reported that someone was stealing food from her outdoor freezer at her residence in Calion. The woman said the freezer, which is kept in the carport, had had food stolen for the first time about two weeks prior. The woman showed an officer security camera footage which showed a man entering the carport at about 1:30 a.m. and going through the food, picking out what he wanted. The woman valued the stolen food at $200.

On Oct. 17, a woman on Nick Springs Road reported a possible phone scam. The woman said a foreign scammer contacted Glenn Mechanical to come to her mother’s house in an attempt to get her mother’s new phone number. The woman said her mother had sent over $4,000 to someone in Jamaica between March and August. An employee at Glenn Mechanical said he spoke to the scammer, who told him a leak needed to be fixed at the woman’s mother’s home. He said the number appeared as coming from Kingston, Jamaica.

On Oct. 17, a woman reported a stolen firearm. The woman said the gun was missing from her dresser drawer and that she did not believe a stranger stole the gun. The gun was described as a .25 caliber pistol, black with a white handle and small.

On Oct. 17, a woman reported that someone damaged her vehicle at her residence on Strong Highway. The woman said the damages appeared between 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The vehicle is a white Chevy Equinox and appeared to have been stabbed several times in the front bumper.

On Oct. 17, a man was arrested for two charges of misdemeanor harassment.

On Oct. 17, a woman was cited for failure to appear. She was given a court date for that same day and was taken immediately to the courthouse.

On Oct. 17, officers took a report of a fight that allegedly occurred at Strong High School. A minor girl, 13 years old, told an officer she was attacked from behind while getting on the school bus. The girl said another minor female, 16 years old, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the ground before punching and kicking her in the face and body. The girl also showed the officer where her phone was damaged in the attack. The girl and her guardian said they did not report the incident to the school because in the past she has been punished for reporting attacks. Officers told her to let the school know and that a report would be on file at the UCSO.

On Oct. 18, a woman reported her vehicle stolen from her property in Strong. The woman said she’d last seen the vehicle the night before around 6 p.m. An officer searched the area but did not locate the vehicle. Later, the woman called him and told him the car was in a ditch on Vestal Loop. The officer located it in a ditch in that area and was able to confirm that it was the correct vehicle. The woman arrived and searched for personal property inside her vehicle; she said nothing appeared to be stolen, but she did find a bit of marijuana, which she asked the officers to take. An officer also identified a hand and foot print on the vehicle.

On Oct. 18, a man reported that his Craftsman drill had been missing from his carport since Monday. The man said that for the past few nights, he’s heard noises in his carport late at night and believed someone was trying to steal his welding tools.

On Oct. 18, a woman reported theft at the Grand Marais Camp in Felsenthal. The woman said another woman had been stealing toilet paper over the past several months. She said the other woman had stolen at least 56 rolls of toilet paper. The responding officer made contact with the second woman in her vehicle near her home, who denied stealing the toilet paper. The officer observed five rolls of toilet paper in the woman’s backseat and told her others had reported seeing her steal it. The woman admitted taking it and could not give a reason as to why she did so. The woman’s daughter said she may be in the early stages of cognitive decline. The woman was banned from the camp.

On Oct. 18, a woman was arrested for a violation of the Arkansas hot check law.
