JOE A. MARONEY

Joe Allen Maroney, 90, of Strong, passed away on October 12, 2018 at Saline Memorial Hospice.

Joe was born in Strong on September 5, 1928, the youngest of eight siblings to Jesse Y. and Dora Duck Maroney. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Entergy where he worked for 42 years. Joe served as a deacon and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Strong. He loved his church and serving the members of the congregation. Spending time with his family at their place on the Ouachita River was one of his favorite things to do. Joe was an avid gardener who took great pride in sharing his produce with family and friends. He was also a huge Razorbacks fan.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife of 61 years, Virginia Cobb Maroney; brothers, Jeff Maroney, Pete Maroney, and Kenneth Maroney; sisters, Gertie Hill and Sarah Paxton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Carol (Richard) Meshell and Susan (Michael) Ray; three grandsons, Brian Meshell, Jonathan Meshell, and Jordan Ray; sisters, Zelda Morris and Betty Kellum; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Strong. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM also at First Baptist Church of Strong with interment at Teel Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Strong.
