Loftin pushes experience in office

Incumbent Union County Judge Mike Loftin believes his experience in the office makes him the right person for the job.

The two-way race set for the Union County judge is between Loftin, a Democrat, and Cliff Preston, a Republican, and will be decided in the Nov. 6 General Election.

Loftin has been the county judge for eight years, and was the Union County road foreman for eight years prior to holding the county judge position.

Loftin said the county judge serves as the chief executive officer of the county government, and wishes to continue serving Union County in that capacity.

“I’ve got a lot of things that I would like to continue to do over the next several years and I’d just like to be able to continue what was started,” Loftin said.

Loftin, age 54, has lived in El Dorado all of his life. He and his wife, Phena, have four children and two grandchildren.

The county judge is a full-time position, with a salary of about $69,000.
