Strong rolls to win over Johnson County Westside

STRONG - LeAndrew Greer and X-Zavier McHenry each scored twice, as Strong exploded for 36 unanswered points in the second half to top Johnson County Westside 44-6 in a non-conference contest at Jerry Burson Field Friday night.

The win is the first for first-year Strong coach Sirl Wright.

The Bulldogs (1-6) led 8-6 at intermission before pulling away in the second half.

Greer racked up 161 yards rushing and a touchdown on 14 carries while also scoring on a 60-yard kickoff return.

McHenry also scored a touchdown on special teams, returning a punt 65 yards for a score.

McHenry chipped in with 60 yards rushing and a score on 13 carries.

Tyler Gafford led the effort on defense with 12 tackles. He also picked up 36 yards on seven carries in the win.

Jamyron Thompson had 20 yards rushing and a touchdown on three carries, while Troy Rowland had a score with 15 yards on the ground on five carries.

Davonte Henry also turned in a solid effort on defense with six tackles.

The Rebels (1-6) dropped their fifth straight.

Strong will play their second straight non-conference game next week when they take on Clinton in a game that will be played at Little Rock Christian.
