The Arkansas Activities Association announced Tuesday the 3A state football playoff game on Friday between Smackover and Danville, originally scheduled to be played at Buckaroo Stadium, has been moved to Memorial Stadium in El Dorado. The field conditions at Smackover were deemed unplayable due to the wet weather.

"Our field is just too wet to get on it. That's why we went over there," Smackover coach Brian Brown said. He said the decision was actually made on Monday.

"We had planned to get on there and try to work on it. But, it just wouldn't stop raining. We even had some this morning. So, it's been difficult to get on it. We had to make the call after a little bit. It's just one of those deals. We can't get on there to roll it. We can't get on there to mow, can't get on there to paint. It's just too bad, right now."

The Buckaroos, 9-1, had a first-round bye last week. Danville (8-3) beat Yellville-Summitt 54-12 last Friday.

El Dorado's stadium has artificial turf. Brown doesn't believe that's an advantage to either team.

"It's just a football game. I don't know how a turf helps anybody. Both teams run the ball with a running back and throw it a little bit. So, I don't know that it helps or hurts or does anything to either one of us," said Brown, who said the Littlejohns also play their home games on grass.

"We're looking forward to it, ready to go. It's one week at a time, trying to get 'er done."
