Dear Editor,
Another election has come and gone. However, I want to focus on the loss of a native of El Dorado, who recently passed. Donna Axum who was Ms. America and a graduate of El Dorado High School class of 1964. I recall the parade that was in her honor back in the Summer of 1971. There were a lot of old fashined cars like model “A” and model “T” Fords. One of the entries in the parade was Jerry Young driving an old time carriage hearse. He was tipping his hat as he went up Northwest Ave. Donna put El Dorado on the map and was well known. One year during Music Fest, I had the opportunity to meet Donna Axum. I was glad to have been acquainted with her. She will be remembered in our hearts and prayers.. Please pray for her family. She was a legend of El Dorado.
