El Dorado Fire Department officials said they have not been able to determine the cause of a fire that spread to several vehicles Wednesday night, destroying one vehicle and damaging two others.

Firefighters and police officers responded just after 10 p.m. to a report of a vehicle fire at a residence at 204 Oakhurst.

Emergency responders said a car — a 2009 Nissan Altima — was engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, they saw that two vehicles that were parked next to the Altima had been damaged by the fire.

Police said the two other vehicles — a 2016 Nissan Maxima and a 2014 Dodge Durango —, though damaged, were still operable.

The owner of the Altima, Tanisha Morris, said she had arrived home and parked the car two hours earlier, adding that the car “was operating fine” then.

She said a relative later ran into her bedroom and told her the car was ablaze. Morris said she then ran outside and called the fire department.

Firefighters said they were unable to pinpoint the cause of the blaze and police said no one reported any suspicious people or activity in the area at the time.
