City Arrests
• Jessica A. Dumas, 20, of Hot Springs, was arrested May 25 for possession of methamphetamine, possession of Xanax, possession of marijuana and careless and prohibited driving. Officers responded on May 25 to a report of a traffic accident in the 900 block of East Main. Dumas, the driver of the vehicle, said she swerved to avoid striking a dog that was crossing the road. She said she then ran onto the curb and struck a utility pole. Police said Dumas admitted there were narcotics in her purse, and police said they recovered a bag of marijuana and marijuana roaches. Dumas was taken to Medical Center of South Arkansas, where she was treated and released. A short time later, police said Dumas was found unconscious in the lobby of MCSA’s Labor and Delivery Center. Police said they conducted another search of Dumas’s purse and found Xanax and methamphetamine. Dumas was again treated at MCSA and later taken into custody and transported to the Union County jail.
• Obie Green, 41, of 521 S. Parkway, was arrested May 21 on a warrant for enforcement of fines. The warrant was served while Green was being held in the Union County Jail on unrelated felony charges of second-degree battery and third-degree domestic battery. On May 18, officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a knife at a residence in the 800 block of East Sixth. Officers said they saw two people rounding the corner at Calion Road and Sixth and ordered them to stop. The man who was closest to officers was identified as Green. The second man, Henry, told police that Green had just cut him with a knife, and he was following Green “to keep eyes on him” until officers arrived. Police said Green ignored commands to get on the ground and fled on foot. He was taken into custody moments later when officers found him behind a building in the area of Fifth Street and Euclid Avenue. The other man and Green’s girlfriend told police that when they arrived at the girlfriend’s residence on East Sixth, Green exited and accused her of cheating on him. They said Green then reached through the passenger window of the man’s vehicle, grabbed his girlfriend’s hair and attempted to pull her through the window. The second man said he exited the vehicle to try and stop Green, and Green went into the house and returned with a butcher’s knife. In a defensive move, the man said he raised his right hand, and Green cut him in the hand. Police said the man sustained a laceration that extended from his thumb to the palm of his hand. The man was treated by EMTs on the scene, police said. The woman told officers that she was attempting to break up with Green, and the cutting victim was a friend who had volunteered to go to the Sixth Street residence with her to gather her belongings. The woman also told police that her teenage daughter had called her from the residence saying that Green was there, and she could not get inside the residence.
• Michael S. Eggleston, 38, of 122 Georgia, was arrested May 20 on two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance. Police responded to a call to assist El Dorado Fire Department EMTs with a patient, Eggleston, at Hurry Back, 1311 E. Main. EMTs said Eggleston, who had lost consciousness, had overdosed on an unknown substance and would not tell them what he had taken. Eggleston was transported by ambulance to Medical Center of South Arkansas for treatment, according to a police report. Police said they searched Eggleston’s vehicle and found a small bag of marijuana and a pill bottle containing nine Hydrocodone pills, one and half Xanax bars, and an Oxycotin pill.
