Razorbacks set to host softball

High school championship games moved to Benton HS

FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas’ nationally No, 13 women’s softball Razorbacks learned Sunday night they have been selected as a Top-16 national seed to host the NCAA Tournament’s Fayetteville Regional starting Friday at Bogle Park.

Coach Courtney Deifel’s Razorbacks, 39-15, are bracketed with DePaul, 35-15, Wichita State, 30-21, and Oklahoma State, 38-20 in the 4-team double-elimination regional.

Arkansas and DePaul play at 4 p.m. following the 1:30 p.m. game between Oklahoma State and Wichita State.

With Bogle Park suddenly unavailable, the Arkansas Activities Association announced Monday the high school state softball tournaments have been moved to Benton High School.

The state championship games had been moved to the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. But, on Sunday, UCA was invited to host the NISC Softball Tournament, which will take place Wednesday through Friday.

For the Razorbacks, this marks the eighth time in UA history for the softball program to be included in the NCAA Tournament and the second consecutive year during Deifel’s 3-year tenure for Arkansas to be in the postseason tournament determining softball’s national champion.

Tickets for the NCAA Fayetteville Regional went on sale at 8:30 a.m. Monday (CT) for Razorback Foundation members and at noon Monday for the general public. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Razorback Ticket Center at 800-982-4647 or 479-575-5151.

All-Session general admission is $25 for adults and $15 for youth with $10 for adult single day admission, $6 for youth and $5 for UA students.
