School boards to consider purchase orders, policy updates

All public school boards will meet this week, starting with the El Dorado School Board at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the administration office boardroom.

El Dorado School Board members will consider bids on paper for the district and several student transfer requests. The board will also discuss personnel matters in an executive session. Hugh Goodwin principal Connie Reed, Vicki Harmon of Wyatt Baptist Church; Washington Middle School and EHS students will report to the board as well.

The Parkers Chapel School Board will consider signage for the school at its meeting at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the technology building. According to a previous News-Times report, a LED message board will be placed near the John Gross Athletic Complex on Hwy 15 and a signature sign will be placed near the school on Parkers Chapel Road.

During last month’s meeting, board member Lisa Murray suggested to instead boost the district’s online presence by fully utilizing its new website and use the $50,000 set aside for Chromebooks. Board members will also consider transfer requests, academic policies, proposed salary schedules for the 2018-2019 school year and adminstration employment contracts.

The Strong-Huttig School Board will also meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the Strong High School library.

On Tuesday, the Smackover-Norphlet School Board will consider safety, policy and handbook updates at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the central office boardroom. The board will hear a report from district curriculum director Jennifer Lee regarding a Blue & You Foundation grant.

Junction City School Board members will consider raising substitute pay from its $68 daily rate during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the special programs meeting room.

Board members will also consider two teacher resignations and superintendent Robby Lowe will update the board on progress of the the high school PEHAM building project.

Lowe reported last month that the project will be delayed

significantly and bids were supposed to open “somewhere around the second week of February.” According to a revised timetable, the project would start soon after the board approves bids submitted March 20 and would be completed within 270-300, missing the initial mark of the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.
