Ronnie Hughes, 73, of El Dorado, passed away peacefully March 3, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Ronnie was born in El Dorado, AR. on September 3, 1944 to James Edward and Frances Wise Hughes.

After graduating from El Dorado High School in 1962 he earned a Bachelors Degree in English/Journalism from Henderson State University, and a Masters of Education Administration from the University of Arkansas. Ronnie’s early career in Academia included High School and College Teaching positions, and he also served as Principal of El Dorado High School. Ronnie went on to work for Moore and Munger, the former parent company of Cross Oil, for several years. Later, he served as General Manager of the El Dorado Golf and Country Club and retired in 2011. Ronnie treasured his time with family and friends, especially at the cabin. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, as well as entertaining those he loved.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Tena Lewis Hughes and his two daughters, Tiffany Hughes of Houston, TX, and Gillian Hughes of Newport Beach, CA; one brother, Rick (Sharon) Hughes of Benton, AR; one nephew, Richard (Becca Jane) Hughes, Jr. and one great niece, Ronnie Jane Hughes of Little Rock, AR, as well as a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Life Reception will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the South Arkansas Arts Center, 110 E. 5th Street El Dorado, AR.

A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Cemetery, located on Hwy 172 (Lisbon Road) Smackover, AR, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR.
