El Dorado will host the Lady Wildcats Basketball Team Camp on Monday and Tuesday at Wildcat Arena. Teams scheduled to participate include Monticello, Beebe, Magnolia, Hot Springs, Warren, Little Rock Christian and Southwood.

The games are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on both days and will be played in the arena and in the auxiliary gymnasium.

El Dorado coach Destinee Rogers expects to have a full roster with the exception of Breya Clark, who is competing in track and field in Australia.

“They’ve been working really hard this summer. I saw some really great things,” Rogers said. “We have competed tough in every camp that we’ve been to. There’s still a lot to be worked on but I’ve been pleased with the team so far.”

In addition to the competition, which could be at a state-tournament type level, the coach has some specific things she’d like to see from her squad.

“I will be looking for us to improve our transition defense and help-side during camp,” she said. “Those are two things we have struggled with but are working towards getting better at it.”

The Lady Wildcats fell short of the state tournament last season. But, Rogers believes her team has taken steps to go farther during the off-season.

“I’ve been really impressed with juniors LaDiamond Maker and Amiyah Williams,” she said. “They have stepped up big time this summer.”
