The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 7 p.m. this evening.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

High pressure aloft, hot temperatures and high relative humidity levels will result in heat index values rising to between 105 and 110 degrees.

Heat indices will begin to approach 105 degrees by late morning and will remain high through at least 7 p.m. this evening.

The NWS suggests you take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
