Area teams qualify for basketball state tournaments

The high school basketball state tournaments tip off this week. Six area schools qualified for the various tournaments, including El Dorado's boys, who will be a No. 4 seed in the 6A State Tournament, which will be held in West Memphis.

The Wildcats will take on Jacksonville Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Junction City's boys and girls qualified for the 3A State Tournament, which will be held at Drew Central in Monticello. The Dragons, a No. 4 seed, will play Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. against Harding Academy. The third-seeded Lady Dragons will meet Bald Knob Thursday at 4 p.m.

Parkers Chapel's boys earned a No. 1 seed in the 2A State Tournament, which will be held at White County Central in Judsonia. The Trojans got a first-round bye but will battle the winner between England and East Poinsett County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Strong's boys and girls both earned No. 2 seeds in the 1A State Tournament, which will be held at Wonderview High School in Morrillton. The Lady Bulldogs will face Alpena on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs will get Western Grove Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
