HAMPTON - Both of Strong's teams ran out of steam Saturday night in the championship games of the 1A Region 4 Tournament in Hampton. Ouachita contained Strong’s running game Saturday and knocked off the Lady Bulldogs 42-33 in the girls final. Nevada erupted in the third quarter and rallied for a 60-50 win over Strong in the boys final.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 21-7 and will be a No. 2 seed in the 1A State Tournament next week in Morrilton. Strong will play Alpena Thursday at 1 p.m.

“We couldn’t get our transition game going,” said Strong coach Jason Porter. “Ouachita did a great job getting back all night.”

The Lady Warriors led 21-15 at the intermission after Strong missed 12 free throws in the first half. The Lady Bulldogs pulled within seven with three minutes remaining but couldn’t get any closer.

Dynasty Davis led Strong with 15 points. Amaya Smith added seven.

The Bulldogs fell to 15-14 on the season and will face Western Grove Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Strong missed 16 free throws in the boys game but still led 14-12 after one quarter and 30-24 at the half. The Bluejays outscored the Bulldogs 21-10 in the third quarter. Nevada drained five 3-pointers in the period and led 45-40 going into the fourth.

Jedarrius Dixon led Strong with 18 points, including 14 in the first half. Dez Newton added 13.

Keyonte Coleman led Nevada with 18 points.
