‘SouthArk on Tour’ continues Monday

SouthArk is heading to First Baptist Church-Cordell at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Beulah Grove Baptist Church on March 7, Mt. Zion Baptist Church on March 17, New Mt. Union Baptist Church on April 11 and Starlight Baptist Church on April 18.

Each event will feature a Q&A with college officials, information about enrolling and an opportunity for those in attendance to tell officials their thoughts and what can be done to better serve the community.

Sunshine Riders Club hosting ‘Coggins & Vaccine Clinic’

The Sunshine Riders Club is hosting a Coggins and Vaccine Clinic by O’Fallon Veterinary Service, Marty O’Fallon, DVM starting at 9 a.m. March 3 at the Sunshine Arena, 2350 Strong Highway, El Dorado. Gate will open at 8 a.m.

Coggins test is $25 per horse and results will be available the same day. Vaccines per horse are $45 for EWT/W/Tetanus; $32.50 per horse for Rhino/Flu; $15 per horse for rabies.

Lyon College, EHS jazz bands to

perform in free concert

The Lyon College Jazz Band, Lyon College Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the El Dorado High School Jazz Band will perform in concert at 7 p.m. March 10 in the El Dorado High School Auditorium.

According to Lyon College Jazz Band director Monty Hill, this concert will feature guest artists Gary Meggs, who recently completed a nine-month tour with the World Famous Glenn Miller Band, on saxophone and Dick Eckstein, band director at North Heights Junior High School in Texarkana, on trombone.

Meggs, known for rebuilding the band program at the UA-Monticello, still directs the UAM Jazz Band. Eckstein performs regularly with the Texarkana Jazz Orchestra. This outstanding evening of jazz standards will leave the audience wanting more. Admission is free.
