Bro. Arguster James, Sr., 85, of El Dorado passed on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. He was born Oct. 4, 1932 to John James and Estella George James in the Mt. Sinai Community in Summerfield, Louisiana.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cordell and the oldest active member of the El Dorado Lodge of No. 151 M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge F. & A.M of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and two sons, Richard Earl James and Alonzo James.
Survivors are his wife; Sis. Beatrice James; sons, Arguster James Jr., Little Rock, Jeffery James and Alfonzo James, El Dorado, and Jerry Dorton of Sacramento, California; daughters, Glenda R. James, Little Rock, Wanda Faye James and Sandra (Keith) Holden of El Dorado; brother, Joseph C. James, SR, Shreveport, Louisiana, and sister, Laylus Radford, Springhill, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Public visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 from noon until 4:30 p.m. with the family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Cordell with the Rev. Pierce Moore, eulogist.
