Old Friends to perform at S.I.G.H.T.

meeting

S.I.G.H.T. (Sight Impaired Group Help Team) will meet at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dumas Memorial Methodist Church, 132 South Wyatt Drive.

Entertainment will be presented by “Old Friends” (George Haynie, Harold Kinard, Ebb Darden, Ken Lewis, and Don Smith). The public is invited to attend.

Auditions for EHS production of “High School Musical” scheduled

El Dorado High School announces auditions for its production of Disney’s High School Musical, presented with special permission from Musical Theatre International.

Those interested in auditioning are asked to prepare a 30-second selection from the songs “Breaking Free” or “Bop to the Top” from the show. Roles available for those 12-80 years old.

Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the El Dorado High School Performing Arts Auditorium and are open to the public. For more information and to fill out an online audition form, visit troupe42.com.

Caledonia Road to be closed for two weeks

Starting Monday, Caledonia Road will be closed for two weeks for new bridge construction.

The road will be closed about one half mile west of Welch Road. Union County officials are pointing to Wingfield Lake Road as an alternate route.

Executive Board of Directors of Southwest Arkansas Planning & Development District to hold meeting

The Executive Board of Directors of Southwest Arkansas Planning & Development District, Inc. will hold an executive committee meeting at 10 a.m. Feb. 27 at 101 Harvey Couch Blvd., Magnolia.

EL Dorado Offices to be closed for Presidents' Day

All administrative offices of the city of El Dorado, including the administrative offices of the police and fire departments, will be closed Monday for Presidents’ Day. The city’s garbage collection service run a day later than the normal schedule.

Several City Commissions look for new members

There are vacancies on several city commissioners, and city officials are encouraging citizens who are interested to apply to fill those positions.

There are openings on the airport, historic district, parks and playgrounds and planning and zoning commissions.

Members of the El Dorado Historic District Commission have expressed a desire to add an attorney to the commission.
