Junction City advances; Davis scores 48 in loss

SMACKOVER - Camya Hamilton led a balanced attack with 18 points, as Junction City downed Smackover 43-32 to advance to the finals of the 8-3A District Tournament on Thursday.

The Dragons, who are the No. 2 seed, will face top-seeded Fordyce for the championship tonight.

In addition to her 18 points, Hamilton also had two assists.

Jada Archie was also in double figures with 12 points along with five rebounds, and Taykeetria Rogers had seven points and three assists in the win.

Bryanna Raye had six points and six rebounds, and Keyanna Ross snared eight rebounds for Junction City.

The Lady Dragons led 10-5 at the end of the first quarter and 17-9 at halftime. Junction City extended its lead to 28-18 after three periods before winning by the final margin.

Sharnes McGhee had 15 points with Jordyn White and Camree Jones adding six points apiece for the Lady Bucks, who will be the No. 3 seed for next week's regional tournament.

STRONG 57

DERMOTT - Dynasty Davis poured in 48 points for the Lady Bulldogs, but a woeful day at the free-throw line came back to haunt the Lady Bulldogs in their semifinal loss in the 8-1A East District Tournament.

Overall, Strong was just 3-of-18 from the charity stripe in the contest.

Davis had 29 of her 48 points in the first half, and drilled eight 3-pointers in the contest.

Kiki Shelton had five points for Strong, who was tied with Woodlawn at 33-all at halftime.

Strong will play in the third-place game this afternoon against Hampton.

PARKERS CHAPEL 19

PARKERS CHAPEL - The Lady Trojans led 9-8 after the opening period, but scored only 10 points the rest of the way in falling in the semifinals of the 7-2A East District Tournament.

The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Trojans 12-4 in the second period to take a 20-13 lead at halftime before pulling away in the third quarter.

Terri Malone had 12 points and T.K. Burson had seven points for the Lady Trojans, who will take on Lafayette County in the third-place game.
