A “pajama party for grown-up girls ages 21 and over,” will include a health fair, beverages, dancing, heavy hors d’oeuvres, fashion show, silent auction and giveaways.
The Medical Center of South Arkansas will once again present Girlfriends Giggle from 6-10 p.m. Thursday at the El Dorado Conference Center. Advance tickets are $35 and $40 the day of the event.
Murphy-Pitard Jewelers has donated prizes to be given away during the “cake smash for $4,000 in pearls and diamonds” - a 14-karat yellow gold Akoya ring with cultured pearls and diamonds weighing .10 carats, valued at $1,050 and an 18-inch Akoya cultured pearl necklace with 14-karat yellow gold traditional pearl clasp.
Amanda Pitard, owner of Murphy-Pitard and graduate gemologist, said the pearls measure 7.5-8.0 millimeters with a grading report and the strand is valued at $3,160.
Ten “cake smash” participants will be selected from those who donate a $10 ticket. They will then smash the 3’x3’ cake for the jewelry. One person will win both the ring and the necklace.
Billed as “definitely not your daughter’s sleepover,” the “giggle” will be a night of manicures, pedicures, massages, spray-tans and hair styling, with an emphasis on pampering, wellness, relaxation and style.
Those attending the annual girlfriend celebration will be invited to “indulge yourself with an evening with your best friends,” said Catherine Noyes, director of marketing for MCSA.
“This one-of-a-kind event uniquely blends the best of being a girl with the best in health education” and supports two noble causes - Healthy Woman at MCSA and the MCSA Auxiliary,” Noyes said.
The Auxiliary provides scholarships for student nurses to complete their training/educational program, donates special items and equipment for the hospital and also supports community nonprofits including HOPE Landing.
The MCSA Healthy Woman program is designed by women and for women.
“Women juggle many roles and responsibilities: mother, daughter, caregiver, career professional, volunteer and friend,” Noyes said.
“Women are increasingly responsible for their personal and family health, as well as leaders in charitable giving and philanthropy. Giving to those you love, but finding time to care for yourself, can be a challenge for most women. Healthy Woman aims to empower all women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed health care decisions and maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit through health education events, fundraisers and campaigns.”
