County Arrests

• On Aug. 12, April A. Thigpen, 37, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct. At around 9 p.m. the previous night, officers were dispatched to the Tracks Inn with reports of a woman dancing in the middle of the road, flagging vehicles down and trying to get into the vehicles. They were not able to find anyone matching descriptions of the woman at the time; however they received another call around 1:30 a.m. and an officer was able to locate her at that time. He made contact with Thigpen, who was acting strangely and placed her under arrest for disorderly conduct.

• On Aug. 12, Kenneth P. Maroney, 35, of Strong was arrested on charges of domestic battery in the third degree, refusal to submit to arrest and possession of marijuana. A man said Maroney started a physical fight with him after they were unable to get a vehicle started. Officers observed a bleeding wound on the victim’s face and dirt on his clothes where he said Maroney had held him on the ground. At that point, they informed Maroney he would be arrested; he refused to submit to arrest. Officers took Maroney to the ground and placed him under arrest. They also found a bud of marijuana hidden inside a screwdriver on his person.

• On Aug. 12, Lisa S. Jolley-Williams, 50, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of domestic battery in the third degree and aggravated assault on a family or household member. Jolley said that her husband told her he was leaving her, took her phone and told her to leave their shared home. She said then her brother-in-law came into the room and threatened her with a steel level. She said then her husband’s daughter came and punched her in the face. After that, she said her husband’s mother held her down while his daughter beat her. She said her husband’s sister threw a bowl at her. The other parties said Jolley started the altercation and they only defended themselves. The officer did find a smashed bowl and a steel level at the residence the altercation took place at. He saw choke and bite marks on the family members that said they engaged with Jolley. He also found bruises on Jolley.

• On Aug. 13, Clenard D. Holmes, 46, of Strong was arrested on charges of possession of crack cocaine. An officer was pulled over in a carwash parking lot making a call. At that point, he noticed another vehicle in the carwash parking lot trying to get his attention. A woman exited the vehicle but seemed too intoxicated to understand what the officer was telling her, so he directed his comments at the driver, Holmes. While speaking with Holmes, he noticed the smell of marijuana in the car. Holmes said he’d smoked some marijuana before he came to the carwash. The officer asked to search the car and Holmes’ person and Holmes agreed. Holmes took a handful of cash out of his pocket and the officer noticed a clear plastic baggie amongst the cash. The officer took the baggie and asked what it was and Holmes admitted it was cocaine.

County Reports

• On Aug. 11, a woman reported a nuisance from dogs in the Lisbon Road area. She said dogs that belong to someone she knows are kept in a lot across the street from where she lives, but the man that owns them does not live nearby. She said the dogs chewed up wires on the underside of her vehicle and officers saw wires hanging from the back end of the vehicle with chew marks. The woman said she is afraid of the dogs. An officer saw a pitbull tied in an empty lot across the road and a smaller dog roaming free; when he approached the dogs they began to growl and bark. The officer notified Animal Control.

• On Aug. 11, a woman reported that her license plate had been stolen. She said she heard that the El Dorado Police Department had given chase to a vehicle with her license plate number. The plate number showed as belonging on a black Honda Accord, the same type of vehicle the police

• On Aug. 12, a woman reported that she saw a man stealing items from her carport. She said it was a white man wearing jeans and a white t-shirt and driving a white S-10 pickup truck. An officer found footprints and tire tracks behind the woman’s home leading to her barn as well. The items stolen were assorted tools for working on tackle in a red metal box, drills, pillows, a red bag chair, chain saws and a weed eater. The woman said he may have taken other tools as well; she wasn’t positive.

• On Aug. 12, a man reported a suspicious person on his property on Emma Drive. The man said his neighbor notified him of a suspicious person on their property, so he called the sheriff’s office. The neighbor said he saw someone sneaking around the property, but officers could not find the person at that time. A short time later, the man called the sheriff’s office again, reporting that he had found the suspicious person and a shot had been fired. The neighbor said he went outside to smoke a cigarette and saw the suspicious person looking under one of his four-wheelers. The man said he went inside to get a shotgun and when he returned, the suspicious person was pointing a handgun at him. The neighbor said he fired a shot into the air and the man ran away into the woods behind his house. Officers were unable to find him in the woods. The two men said the suspect was a male wearing a black hoodie and a black flat bill hat. The gun was described as a silver revolver with a wooden stock.

• On Aug. 13, a man reported that several items had been stolen from an Entergy substation on Southfield Cutoff. The items stolen included $12,000 worth of galvanized pulleys and 80 ft. of wire on a spool. There was a hole in the fence from which the pulleys were taken.

• On Aug. 14, a man reported that a former employee had thus refused to return a company vehicle after stopping working for the company three weeks earlier. Officers picked up the truck at the employee’s home on Union Road and an attached trailer to return it to the owner.

• On Aug. 14, a woman reported that her dog was missing in the Wildwood Circle area. She said her daughter took the dog along when she went to a friend’s house earlier this month; the daughter left the dog outside when she went inside, and when she returned outside, the dog was missing. The woman said she believed the dog was stolen. The dog is a reddish-colored pitbull mix, the woman said.

• On Aug. 15, a man reported being beaten at a pool hall in Strong. He said that after winning a game of dominoes, his opponent punched him in the head, knocking him unconscious. He said witnesses at the pool hall told him later that the man had continued to punch his face after he lost consciousness.

• On Aug. 15, a woman reported that she was following in her car another vehicle belonging to someone who stole her dog two days prior. The woman said she saw a car parked near her property with the hood up and waited in her driveway to make sure they did not need a jump. The woman said she then recognized the car as matching the description a PetSense employee had given her of the vehicle that belonged to the person who stole her dog. The woman followed the car until it stopped, at which point officers arrived and spoke to the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The passenger admitted to taking the dog, saying it was hers and that the woman that had followed her was not feeding it.
