Union County man killed in traffic accident

Wreck: Traffic was backed up in the north and south bound lanes of Junction City Highway after two semi trucks collided on Friday. Arkansas State Police, Union County Sheriff’s deputies, Fair Crest Volunteer Firefighters and other emergency workers responded after the vehicles collided in the curve of the road between Medlin’s Metal Roofing, 4895 Junction City Hwy and Kinard’s Hydraulics and Pneumatics, 4905 Junction City Hwy.

Two people were killed yesterday in an accident on Junction City Highway, including one man from Union County.

Terry Reed, 52, of El Dorado was southbound, pulling a wood chip trailer, when Kenes Lajeunesse, 42, of Jacksonville, Fla., hauling a Walmart trailer and travelling northbound, crossed the center line and struck his vehicle, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police. One man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision occurred between Medlin’s Metal Roofing at 4895 Junction City Hwy. and Kinard’s Hydraulics and Pneumatics at 4905 Junction City Hwy. The Faircrest Volunteer Fire Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office and ProMed also responded.

Telecommunications Officer Scott McGaha said the accident was called in a few minutes before 1:30 yesterday afternoon. He said according to the preliminary report, no one else was injured in the accident.
