Key to the city to be presented Saturday

Larry Henry Lee, Sr. will receive a key to the city at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Saturday at 6 p.m., which would have been his 64th birthday.

A proclamation signed by El Dorado Mayor Frank Hash will declare Aug. 11, 2018 as Mr. Larry Henry Lee Sr. Lee “The Green Man” Day.

“Lee worked tirelessly and faithfully at the McGhee Oil Refinery, Prescolite manufacturing for many years and supported his wife and family of nine children,” the proclamation states. “Lee ultimately took the leap as a private entrepreneur by establishing his own vegetable and fruit business becoming a well known and respected merchant throughout our community.”

The family color for the event is red and black. Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is located at 1x807 Southwest Ave.

Annual Friendship District Women Tea to be held Saturday

The Annual Friendship District Women Tea will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

The theme for this year’s event is Mission Anchored in Hope. The event will include Reverend Barry Dodson, moderator, Sister Gwenda Island, president of Women Work and Sister Betty J. Roberson, president emeritus.

The guest speaker will be Shaneil “PJ” Yarbrough.
