No foul play suspected in search of missing juvenile

UPDATE: The juvenile has been found safe.

The Union County Sheriff’s Department is currently trying to determine the whereabouts of 16-year-old Brennan Gaffney.

The sheriff's department shared their efforts on social media Monday around 2 p.m. According to the post, Gaffney was last seen at his residence Monday around midnight. Gaffney left home with his bag, as well as rodeo riding equipment.

“He’s really big into rodeo so if he has caught a ride or has gone somewhere, it could be somewhere that sort of thing is popular because that’s what he wants to do with his life,” said Capt. Jeff Stinson. “He wants to ride rodeo so he may gravitate towards those sort of people and that kind of environment.”

Stinson said the sheriff’s office received a call earlier in the day Monday, stating that Gaffney had been seen walking in the area of Spencer Lane.

“We did check the area, but we weren’t able to find him,” Stinson said. “That’s the only credible sighting of him so far (Monday).”

Union County Sheriff Ricky Roberts said they do not suspect any foul play.

“We’re looking for him,” Roberts said. “It seems like it’s just maybe a matter of a kid that has run away and we’re trying to locate him and make sure he’s OK.”

The sheriff department Facebook post stated that it was possible Gaffney caught a ride with someone from his residence because his own vehicle was left at home.

Gaffney is approximately 5’11 and 140 pounds.

Anyone with information as to Gaffney’s location is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 870-864-1990.
