The El Dorado Water Utilities is warning residents about a scam in which customers have been contacted with requests for additional information.
Phyllis Waller, EWU business administration manager, said a woman identifying herself as “Racheal with Card Services” has been calling EWU customers and trying to pry personal information from them.
Waller said the EWU phone number, 870-862-6451, has appeared on the complainants’ caller ID displays when they received such calls.
“Citizens should not give out their personal information to callers,” Waller said. “The utility would have no one call customers and ask for additional, personal information from them.”
Anyone who receives a call from “Card Services” is urged to call the EWU or the El Dorado Police Department at 870-881-4810.
