Thieves continued a string of vehicle break-ins that have been occurring in the city in recent weeks, committing another bout Thursday on the north side of town and striking the vehicle of an El Dorado city official.

Late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, thieves hit numerous vehicles in the areas of North Parkway, North College, Oakhurst, North Madison, North Jefferson, East Fourth, East Sixth, Champagnolle, Euclid and South West Avenue.

North Jefferson, East Fourth, North Madison, East Sixth, Champagnolle are in the north east section of town, and thieves maintained their focus on that area early late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, this time moving to North Calion Road, Briarwood Apartments in the area of Calion Road and 19th Street and the Country Club Colony neighborhood, just west of Briarwood.

While conducting foot patrols in the 600 block of East 19th, officers noticed the glove compartments open and items disturbed in a pickup truck and SUV.

The owners of the vehicles said no items were missing.

In the 1800 block of North Calion, officers saw that items had been removed from the glove compartment and center console of an SUV at a residence there.

The SUV belonged to El Dorado City Council Member Billy Blann, who said it did not appear as if any items were missing from the SUV.

Officers received information about thieves entering vehicles in the 1800 and 2300 blocks of Calion Road.

Police also conducted checks in Country Club Colony, where they noticed the driver’s door ajar, the center console open and papers strewn about in an SUV at a residence in the 100 block of Woodland.

A woman who also lives in the 100 block of Woodland reported that someone entered her vehicle, and another such report came from a neighbor in the 100 block of Glenridge Parkway.

No items were reported missing.

El Dorado residents who have experienced vehicle break-ins are urged to call police, even if no items have been stolen. Police are also advising residents to lock their doors and to not leave valuables in open sight.

Police have said there have been no signs of forced entry in any of the incidents and many vehicle owners have said they left their doors unlocked.

One owner told police that he does not regularly lock the doors to his vehicle or leave valuables inside it.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incidents, having made some arrests within the past few days.

Travoskie Coleman, 19, of 1110 Ross, and a 15-year-old boy were arrested July 28 in connection to break-ins that were reported in the area of Parkway.

A juvenile has also been arrested for his alleged involvement in break-ins that occurred late Tuesday/early Wednesday.

On July 26, 18-year-old Tyrell R. Dunn, of 1332 Blackard, and a 17-year-old boy, also of El Dorado, were taken into custody by Pine Bluff police after officers there stopped them in a car that had been reported stolen during a series of break-ins that were reported July 25 in Country Club Colony.

The car, a silver, 2015 Honda Accord, had been taken from a residence in the 200 block of Chula Vista, El Dorado police said.
