McSwain and William V. Rester, 39, of 325 Oakwood Drive, were arrested in connection to a theft that was reported at the construction site of the Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites, 1800 N. West Ave. Police were called on April 16 to the construction site of the Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites, 1800 N. West Ave., in reference to the theft of two air conditioner units. Police said surveillance video showed a pickup truck stopping across the street from the site and dropping off a male with a dolly. Two hours later, the truck returned, and another male exited the truck. The second male helped the first pull the dolly, onto which one of the air conditioner units had been loaded, onto a trailer that was hitched to the truck and drove away. Police said they traced the license plate number of the truck to McSwain’s heating and air business on Park Lane. McSwain told officers that Rester said he had permission to remove old air conditioner units from a construction site, and McSwain confirmed that he helped Rester remove one of the units from the Marriott site. Police said the unit was recovered from a wooded area next to McSwain’s shop in the 100 block of NE Sherwood Drive. McSwain said he did not move the second unit.
