El Dorado native Whitney Frazier scored 26 points to lead Haukar to an 85-68 win over Valur Thursday. The win gave Haukar a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 championship series of the Icelandic Dominos Women’s Basketball League.
Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing its lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists.
Frazier, who played at Louisiana Tech, added 10 rebounds and six assists as she led four Haukar players in double figures.
The former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (TCU) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists.
Haukar's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
For Valur, Aaliyah Whiteside (Georgia Tech) led the way with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
