Medical Center of South Arkansas (MCSA) and Arkansas Heart Hospital (AHH) have announced a strategic alliance reflecting the two health care organizations’ commitment to heart health in southern Arkansas. Together, they will work to strengthen the recruitment of cardiologists, enhance the range of heart health educational opportunities and better meet the health needs of the communities they serve across the region.

“Heart disease is a serious health issue in south Arkansas,” said Scott Street, MCSA CEO. “This alliance is one of shared vision and commitment to providing quality care right here at home.”

Dr. Bruce Murphy, chief executive of Arkansas Heart Hospital says the shared vision between MCSA and AHH is of significant importance for his hometown.

“We are delighted to be a part of this alliance with the Medical Center of South Arkansas,” Murphy said. “We have the same goals for patients with heart disease. This positions us to also share treatment guidelines and protocols putting our patient at the center of a larger system of care when they need it.”

“We understand this alliance will be one of innovation, continuous quality improvement and teamwork,” Street said. “That’s why as we looked at the medical needs of our community in the future, we felt a responsibility to work collaboratively with a leader in heart health.”

In the alliance, both hospitals will remain as separate institutions.
