Wildcats finish third

BOSSIER CITY, La. - El Dorado's senior boys cross country team finished third Saturday in the C.E. Byrd Invitational. Junior Alex Jiminez, in his first meet of the season, led the way with a fourth place finish, overall, in a time of 18:27.

The Wildcats' J.D. Halstead finished eighth out of 85 runners with a time of 19:00 with Brooks Coan coming in 11th with a time of 19:12.8. The rest of the varsity team included: Carson Ricker (20:06), Hudson McDiarmid (20:09), Hayden McDiarmid (21:02), Collin Taylor (22:28), Braden Griffin (22:29) and Ian Hernandez (24:43).

They competed on a three-mile course.

El Dorado's Tori Lewis ran a 26:37 in the varsity girls race.

In junior high, El Dorado only ran seventh and eighth graders due to Louisiana freshman eligibility issues. Addy Taylor finished fourth in junior high girls, running a 15:19 over the two-mile course. Jana Powell (18:22), Presley Givens (20:40) and Hope Walthall (20:41) rounded out El Dorado's junior girls.

El Dorado's Austin Richard finished ninth in the junior boys race with a time of 14:27. Addison Dumas (15:20), Andrew Lowery (16:15) and Bradey Williams (16:32) rounded out El Dorado's junior boys.

El Dorado will travel to Star City next Saturday for the Los Toritos Invitational.
