RUSSELLVILLE – University of Arkansas at Monticello football defensive back Christian Jefferson and quarterback Cole Sears have each been named as the defensive and offensive Great American Conference players of the week, announced Monday.

Jefferson, a sophomore from El Dorado, totaled a season-high 10 tackles in the match-up against OBU, along with recording one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two passes broken up.

"Very happy for both Cole and Christian," head football coach Hud Jackson said. "To have two great players, and more importantly, people represent your program is awesome. Cole continues to play with confidence and being very efficient. Christian is our QB on defense. He is a special talent that brings stability to the defensive side of the ball."

The Weevils will face the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene this Saturday, October 21 at home in Monticello.
