An El Dorado woman who was found dead inside her residence last summer succumbed to natural causes, El Dorado police said.

State medical examiners cited medical issues related to asthma as the cause of death for 22-year-old Bobresha S. Howell.

Howell was found inside her residence at 618 Marrable Hill on July 12 after officers responded to a call about a welfare concern.

Officers said a relative had become worried after trying in vain to get in contact with Howell and summoned officers to the scene at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Her infant daughter was present when police arrived. The child was safe and unhurt, police said.

The cause of death remained undetermined in preliminary medical reports from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.

The space was labeled as “pending” in the preliminary report, which indicated that further tests would have to be conducted.

Capt. Kevin Holt, public information officer for the El Dorado Police Department, said additional tests by the crime lab pointed to complications from asthma.

“It was tragic. We don’t know if there was a sudden onset or if it was a long-term thing,” Holt said. “It’s good to be able to put this to rest. It was an unfortunate medical issue.”
