Master Gardener Appreciation Day

Welcome gardeners: Above, this scarecrow, created by Union County Master Gardener Sharon Traylor, welcomed over 300 Master Gardeners from throughout the state to El Dorado and the South Arkansas Arboretum Monday, to celebrate Master Gardener Appreciation Day. Local Master Gardeners spent countless hours decorating the arboretum with hundreds of pumpkins and scarecrows for the first Master Gardeners Appreciation Day to ever be held in Union County. Left, Union County Master Gardener Charlotte Abbott takes a minute to relax and sit beside one of several scarecrows created by Sharon Traylor, to adorn the South Arkansas Arboretum during Master Gardener Appreciation Day. Over 300 gardeners from throughout the state attended the daylong celebration Monday and learned about Arkansas trees from Dr. Eric Sundell. They also painted rocks, made seed bombs and learned about numerous plants and flowers in the arboretum.
