Medical Center of South Arkansas Chief Executive Officer Robert Rupp has resigned, effective Oct. 17, to accept a position at a hospital outside of the El Dorado area, according to a news release.

“It has been my honor to support the compassionate caregivers at MCSA for the past two years,” Rupp said. “Our hospital has grown in service to the south Arkansas community and will continue to do so because of the dedication of our physicians and staff to quality and service.”

During his tenure, Rupp oversaw the successful joint commission surveys for the hospital and lab as well as improved employee and physician satisfaction scores.

“Robert (Rupp) leaves El Dorado with a firm foundation and positioned for future momentum,” said Dr. Robert Tommey, chairman, MCSA board of trustees. “We appreciate his contributions and are focused on finding a replacement with the right experience for our hospital and community.”

Rupp was appointed CEO in July 2015, after having served as interim chief executive officer at Helena Regional Medical Center in Helena.

The search for a new CEO is underway and will include the participation of members of the board, medical staff and administration.
