Wildcats compete in conference golf event

JONESBORO - El Dorado’s boys golf team fell two strokes shy of advancing to the second day of the 6A State Tournament on Monday at Jonesboro Country Club.

The Wildcats finished with a team score of 365, two strokes behind Siloam Springs for the final team spot to move on.

However, one Wildcat will continue play today after earning 6A West All-Conference honors.

Shaun York, who shot an 82 to lead El Dorado on the first day of the tournament, will compete as an individual today.

Brendan Jones had a 93, while Noah Gaul and Preston Howard each shot 95 to round out the Wildcats’ scoring.

Jonesboro leads the team scoring at 307. Greenwood is second, just four strokes behind.

Jonesboro’s Wil Gibson and Greenwood’s Evan Griffith tied for the low round of the day with each shooting a 74.
