An El Dorado woman was being held Friday in the Union County Jail on a $25,000 bond for allegedly stabbing a man earlier this week.

Tytiana S. Tidwell, 21, of 2105 N. Newton, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree battery after allegedly cutting 44-year-old Charles E. Gulley with a knife.

Officers responded at 3:22 p.m. to a report of a battery in the 200 block of Hargett, officers made contact with Gulley, who said a woman he knew by a nickname had stabbed him several times.

Police said Gulley was being treated on the scene by emergency medical technicians when they arrived, and he was transported by ambulance to Medical Center of South Arkansas for further treatment.

Gulley was hospitalized overnight for observation, officers said. A police report did not indicate that his injuries were life-threatening.

A witness reported hearing a commotion outside, and when she stepped out of her residence to investigate, she saw a woman, later identified as Tidwell, carrying a knife.

The witness said Gulley was grabbing the woman by the waist, yelling, “She stabbed me. Help.”

Tidwell reportedly dropped the knife, went back inside Gully’s residence, retrieved some clothes, came back outside, picked up the knife, and left the area. The witness said Tidwell ducked around an apartment building in the area and headed east.

Police said they learned where Tidwell was employed and spoke with her supervisor, who said Tidwell had called and said she would not be able to report for work because she had been involved in a stabbing incident.

Gulley told police that Tidwell became angry as the pair were engaged in sexual intercourse.

When he got up and turned toward the closet, he felt Tidwell strike him in the upper back, and he realized the woman was stabbing him with a knife. He then retreated downstairs, and she stabbed him twice more in the leg and arm.

Gulley told police that he went outside and began yelling to get his neighbors’ attention. Gulley said Tidwell had a kitchen knife with a serrated edge and black handle.

Tidwell was later taken into custody and transported to the Union County jail.
