MURPHY L. MOORE
Murphy Lyle Moore, 69, of Stuart, Florida, passed away in Stuart on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, surrounded by his family following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in El Dorado to Violet Van Hook Gray and Oscar Gammye Moore on Sept. 30, 1948. After graduating with honors from Southern Methodist University with a degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration, Murphy went on to have a successful 32-year career as an executive at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York.
Upon retiring from Kodak and moving to Florida, Murphy began his second career as a wealth management advisor/CFP for Merrill Lynch. Throughout his entire career he was a trusted advisor, role model and friend. He served in many leadership roles in his community, as well as Mariner Sands Country Club and the Mariner Sands Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; step-father (Bill Gray); sister (Mattie Ward); and brother, (Oscar Gammye Moore Jr.).
He is survived by his college sweetheart and beloved wife of 47 years, Sally; their two children, Scott Murphy Moore (Patricia) and Katherine Moore Clifford (William); and his precious grandchildren, Alexis Moore (10), Luke Moore (7) and John Clifford (4). Murphy is also survived by his sister, Virginia Smith (Don); and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
