Lady Buckaroos open with win at Parkers Chapel

PARKERS CHAPEL - Smackover took an early lead and held on for a 45-41 season-opening victory over Parkers Chapel on Monday.

Cameree Jones and Sharnes McGhee led the Lady Buckaroos with 13 points apiece while Kaitlyn Goodwin scored seven.

Smackover built a 16-9 lead after one quarter and led 24-20 at the half. The Lady Bucks carried a 35-27 advantage into the final period.

Terri Malone and T.K. Burson led the Lady Trojans with 18 and 14, respectively.

Parkers Chapel won the junior girls game 29-22.

Drue Thomas led the Lady Trojans with 21 points with Ali Looney contributing eight.

Jeniya Murphy led Smackover with eight points.

Arkansas Christian Academy 12

BRYANT - The Lady Warriors opened their basketball season Monday. Despite only four practices for the volleyball girls, West Side held its opponents to just three field goals in the victory.

Brooklin Pitard paced the Lady Warriors with 10 points. Hannah Miller scored seven while Lauren Land and Sofia Narciso scored six points apiece. Olivia Voss was 5-of-6 at the free throw line.

Kerri Goddard scored nine for Arkansas Christian Academy, which trailed 12-3 after one quarter, 21-6 at the half and 30-11 going into the fourth.

West Side travels to Hot Springs for a preseason tournament, beginning on Thursday.
