Trojans fall to Hornets

HARMONY GROVE - This was not the ending to the regular season Parkers Chapel was looking for.

Parkers Chapel was limited to just 130 yards of total offense, as Harmony Grove topped the Trojans 47-0 in the 8-2A finale for both schools on Thursday night.

The Trojans (6-4, 3-4), who have already secured a playoff berth, will be the league's No. 4 seed if Strong upends Bearden tonight, or the No. 5 seed if the Bears prevail.

Pending tonight's outcome, the Trojans will play at either 6-2A champion Hazen or runner-up McCrory next week in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Hornets (7-3, 7-0) clinched the 8-2A outright with their triumph, and they will also have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

"We played like a team that had nothing to play for, and that's my fault," said Parkers Chapel coach Jacob Midyett. "We've got to prepare the way we know how or it will be another long game."

Caleb Jacobs led the Trojans with 32 yards rushing on five carries, while De'Qua Henderson had three catches for 20 yards.

Ryan Simpson added 77 yards on kickoff returns for the Trojans.

Overall, the Trojans had 54 yards rushing and 76 yards passing.
