Robbery, drugs and threats mark first appearances

EL DORADO — Six men made their first court appearances on Wednesday with 35th District Court Judge Jack Barker presiding.

Joshua P. Sutherlin, 36, of Norphlet, was arrested and charged with hitting his mother and stealing a blue Chevy S-10 on March 14, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

He is facing a theft of property charge from the El Dorado Police Department and robbery and domestic battery charges from the sheriff’s office.

According to the report, his mother told authorities that her son became upset, chased her around the truck, punched her in the ribs and face, and drove the truck away.

The mother had broken bones in her nose.

On March 20, a sheriff’s lieutenant responded to a reckless driving report and located the truck on the side of the road near the intersection of U.S. Route 82 and Oak Manor Drive. The truck was on a jack stand with the front driver’s side tire missing.

The lieutenant found Sutherlin walking south on Oak Manor Drive and arrested him due to multiple warrants from police, the sheriff’s office, and his parole officer.

Sutherlin is being held in lieu of cash or corporate surety bonds totaling $50,000.

Jarmon M. Thomas, 34, of El Dorado, was arrested Tuesday and charged with delivering methamphetamine and cocaine in the area.

Police connected Thomas to three drug-related deliveries. With a criminal history dating back to 2003, he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, any form acceptable to the sheriff.

Zachary K. Dickens, 29, of El Dorado, was arrested Monday and charged with theft by receiving property over $5,000.

Dickens is being held in lieu of a $25,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

Christopher Causey, 35, of Felsenthal, was arrested Monday and charged with failing to comply with registering as a sex offender.

He was arrested in Shreveport with the related warrant and transported to the Union County jail for first appearances.

Causey is being held in lieu of a $15,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

David A. Watson, 52, of El Dorado, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree battery.

The victim told a sheriff’s deputy that he was “beat up” by Watson at a residence located at the 2000 block of Lawson Road. He suffered from jaw fractures on the right side of his face.

Watson is facing a $25,000 bond, any form acceptable to the sheriff.

Brian K. Raymond, 46, was arrested Wednesday and charged with attacking a family member and threatening her with a knife.

According to the sheriff’s office, Raymond and a woman got into an argument over their phones, which led to the following series of alleged events: He bit her and locked her in his bedroom closet; In the Dumas Memorial Church, Raymond hit her in the head and throat with a flashlight and chased her with a knife yelling “I’m gonna kill you;” and he hid in his bathroom as deputies searched his house located at the 100 block of S. Wyatt Drive.

He is being charged with aggravated assault on a family member and first-degree terroristic threatening. His signature bond is set at $10,000.

If released, all people facing felonies are bound to circuit court for further proceedings, have no-contact orders assigned, confined to curfews, and are restricted from alcohol, drugs and firearms while their cases are active.
