Parkers Chapel softball collects road win

SMACKOVER - A day after a tough loss to Hamburg, Smackover rebounded by rolling past Warren 12-2 in Class 3A-4A District 12 action on Thursday.

Cade Schibler turned in a solid outing on the mound, tossing a five-hitter.

Beau Burson paced the Bucks' offense by belting a three-run homer in the second en route to finishing 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the win.

Clay Stringer enjoyed a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs, including a two-out RBI single that got the Bucks (4-7) on the scoreboard.

Stringer also ended the game via mercy rule in the fifth after he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Leading 5-2 going into the bottom of the fifth, the Bucks took advantage of seven walks, a hit batsman and an error to score seven runs to end the game via mercy rule with Stringer's aforementioned bases-loaded plunking.

Schibler, who walked three and struck out two while allowing two unearned runs, helped himself at the plate by going 2-for-2.

Brennan McKnight and Baylor Brumley each had one hit, while Nick Jennings and Braden McKinnon each had RBIs on bases-loaded walks in the fifth.

Crossett 2

CROSSETT - Logan Disotell went the distance with a three-hitter for the Dragons (8-3, 4-1), who picked up a road win in Class 3A-4A District 12 play.

Disotell, who walked one, hit two batters and struck out eight, shut the Eagles out until the sixth.

The Dragons gave Disotell all the run support he would need by scoring three runs in the opening inning.

Joe Lowe started the rally with a double and Keelan Hodge opened the scoring with an RBI single. Disotell then helped his own cause with an RBI double, and Bryce Ware followed suit with an RBI double of his own to make it 3-0.

Junction City tacked on two runs in both the third and fourth innings before scoring a run in the seventh.

In addition to his terrific performance on the mound, Disotell had three hits in the win.

The senior had two singles, a double and two RBIs.

Ware had a single, a double and two RBIs, while Robbie Roberson had two singles and an RBI.

Junction City returns to action this afternoon when they host Hamburg.

CONWAY - Connor Noland fired a two-hit shutout and struck out 12 for the Bulldogs.

Noland, who has verbally committed to Arkansas to play football, walked one and he drove in the lone run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Derek Jobe and Blake Cunningham accounted for the Wildcats' hits in the contest.

Gage Otwell turned in a solid performance in taking the loss, allowing just three hits while walking four with five strikeouts.

Connor Cates allowed a walk in a scoreless inning of relief work.

El Dorado (2-5) will be back in action next Thursday when they take on Sylvan Hills at the Little Rock Tournament.

PARKERS CHAPEL USES LATE RALLY TO TOP HARMONY GROVE

HARMONY GROVE - Courtney Phelps delivered another outstanding performance in the circle, and she helped her own cause with a huge hit, as Parkers Chapel knocked off Harmony Grove 2-0 on Thursday afternoon.

After being held in check for five innings, Parkers Chapel (7-3) broke through for two runs in the sixth.

Bailey Norwood, who was 2-for-3 in the game, laced a triple to right-center to start the inning.

Phelps then opened the scoring by ripping an RBI single to center.

Hannah Barbaree then entered the game as a courtesy runner and stole second.

Savannah Slaughter promptly followed with a base hit to score Barbaree to make it 2-0, and Phelps made the lead stand up.

Phelps finished with a three-hit shutout, tallying seven strikeouts while issuing just one walk.

She also got a great defensive play made behind her in the fifth.

With runners at first and second and one out, second baseman Savannah Jones made a good running catch on a line drive that resulted in an inning-ending double play.

Jones and Kaylin Waller each had a single for the Lady Trojans, who had six hits in the win.
