Drillers dominate Benton-Bauxite 21-1

BAUXITE - The El Dorado Drillers’ offensive surge continued on Monday, as they rolled to a 21-1 win in four innings over Benton-Bauxite in the opening game of an American Junior Legion Zone 4 doubleheader.

After scoring 18 runs in a weekend sweep of Camden Pulpwood, the Drillers had four players have multi-hit games on Monday.

Charles Hoof went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs scored, a double and a walk to pace the Drillers.

Trace Shoup joined Hoof with four RBIs, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a sacrifice fly and two runs scored.

Reece Griffin went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBIs and two walks, while Grayson Hurst went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Tanner McLelland and Thomas Hardy each drew three walks and scored three runs in the win.

Tyler Martin went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs, and Reid Cates finished 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Ty Disotell picked up his second win in three days.

After beating Camden Pulpwood in the second game of their doubleheader on Saturday, Disotell allowed three hits and one run in four innings of work. He walked two and struck out eight.

DRILLERS TAKE TWO

PARKERS CHAPEL - The weekend was a profitable one for the Drillers, who swept a doubleheader against Camden Pulpwood.

The Drillers won the opener 7-2 before outlasting the visitors 11-6 in the nightcap.

Brock McGoogan, Michael Brotherton, Shoup, Cates and Hardy each had singles, while Blake Wells picked up the victory on the mound in the opener.

In the nightcap, Martin had a single and two RBIs, while Hoof added a single and a double in the win.

Brotherton had two singles, while Hardy and Wells added singles.

Disotell was the winning pitcher.

OILERS FINISH TOURNEY

SHERIDAN - After tying Malvern and beating White Hall, the El Dorado Oilers fell to Sheridan 7-5 at the Sheridan Wood Bat Tournament, finishing with a 1-1-1 record.

Down 7-2 in the seventh, the Oilers rallied.

Reagan Cates belted a two-run homer to cut the lead to 7-4.

A walk to Colton Pratt coupled with consecutive hits by Joe Lowe and Chad Butler loaded the bases.

Bryce Ware was then hit by a pitch to force in a run to make it 7-5.

However, that would be as close as the Oilers would get.

Cates drove in three runs, adding a sacrifice fly in the third. He also drew two walks.

Lowe and Casey Chandler were each 2-for-4 with the latter scoring two runs.

Myles Jones was 1-for-3 with one run scored.

Gage Otwell went the distance to take the loss.

He allowed eight hits, seven runs (six earned), walked five and struck out two.

The Oilers hit the road to take on the Bryant Black Sox in a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. tonight.
