Drillers, Bucks split doubleheader

PARKERS CHAPEL - The El Dorado Drillers and Smackover split an American Legion doubleheader on Thursday at Robert McKinnon Park.

The Bucks broke open a close game with a four-run seventh to top the Drillers 10-3 in the opener.

The Drillers salvaged a split with a 10-4 win in the nightcap.

In the opener, Tucker Evans had an outstanding game both with the bat and on the mound.

Evans went the distance with a four-hitter, walking four and fanning two to pick up the win.

At the plate, Evans went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

His two-run single highlighted the Bucks' uprising in the seventh.

Baylor Brumley went 2-for-5 with a run for the Bucks.

Michael Brotherton went 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Trace Shoup and Jack Smith each had one hit for the Drillers.

Tyler Martin suffered the loss.

In the nightcap, Grayson Hurst worked 2 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win.

He walked five and struck out six while surrendering two hits.

Of the three runs he allowed, only one was earned.

Blake Wells went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Charles Hoof and Martin each had one hit, one run scored and one RBI in the win.

Cade Schibler took the loss for the Bucks.

OILERS OPEN POOL PLAY WITH TIE

SHERIDAN - The El Dorado Oilers opened pool play at the Sheridan Wood Bat Tournament on Wednesday by playing Malvern to a 7-7 tie.

Trailing by two runs in the seventh, the Oilers tied the game on an RBI double by Hunter Brantley and an RBI single by Logan Disotell.

The Oilers had a golden opportunity to win the game, having runners at second and third with nobody out, but could not push the winning run across the plate.

The Oilers banged out 13 hits with five players collaborating for all of the offense.

Disotell went 3-for-4 with three singles and three RBIs.

Brantley was also 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Brock McGoogan was the final Oiler with three hits, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Casey Chandler went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Reagan Cates was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Connor Cates allowed six hits and six runs (four earned) in six innings of work. He walked five and struck out seven.

Chad Butler allowed two hits and one run in one inning of relief work. He struck out two and didn't issue any walks.

The Oilers (4-6-1) will continue pool play tonight when they face White Hall at 8:15 p.m.
