EMERSON - Strong's Lady Bulldogs will strut into the 1A State Tournament next week after beating Ouachita 48-36 Saturday to win the 1A 5 Regional Championship. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 16-10 on the season and will play the winner of Alpena and County Line on Tuesday in Mt. Ida.
Strong never trailed against Ouachita and stretched the lead out in the second and third quarters.
"We went with out junk defense tonight. Played a triangle-and-two on their top scorers and just tried to make their others beat us. We held their leading scorer to four points," said Strong coach Jason Porter. "Really proud of the girls. We are coming together at the right part of the season.
Freshman Dynasty Davis led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points. Kiki Shelton added 12 while Ladasia Williams contributed 10 points and 17 rebounds.
