DOROTHY L. HOLDER

Dorothy Lee Hood Parks Holder passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017. She was 88 years old.

Dorothy was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Commerce, Texas. She was the daughter of the Rev. Broad L. Hood and Elsie Leona Lawhon Hood.

Dorothy was a homemaker, artist and friend. She loved family, gospel music, good books, fried catfish, Spudnuts and being around people. She was a resident of El Dorado for 71 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence E. Parks; and brother, Charles Van Hood.

She is survived by her her husband, Don R. Holder of Prescott Valley, Arizona; daughters, Barbara J. Merritt of Houston, Texas, and Patsy R. Brown (Carl) of Waldo; a son, Clarence E. Parks Jr. (Rhonda) of Bossier City, Louisiana; step-daughter Larri Lyn Stell (Rick) of Prescott Valley; sister, Geraldine Hood of East Alton, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado with the Rev. Jimmy Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Dorothy’s grandchildren will serve their grandmother as pallbearers.
