El Dorado artist, Michelle Jones, displays artworks

EL DORADO — El Dorado artist Michelle Jones’ bright and fun art show, ”It’s Out There,” is now hanging in the Lobby Gallery at the South Arkansas Arts Center through the end of February. This exhibit is free and open to the public. Viewing hours are from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Jones said she is new to the art world, having only begun to paint a year and a half ago. She said she was immediately smitten by the “art bug” and now spends her spare time trying different techniques. Pastels being her new favorite medium to work with.

“I just paint stuff I like!” she said. “The secret to being able to paint is what Nike tells us: Just Do It. Just go take the class at the South Arkansas Arts Center; show up when someone advertises Date Paint Night; sit in your living room with an easel, cheap paint and a thin canvas watching YouTube videos splattering paint all over the floor. You may get yelled at over that last idea (acrylic does not come off easily when dried), but the more you paint, the better you will get.”

For more information about the show, call the SAAC office at 870-862-5474 or visit the website at www.saac-arts.org. The SAAC is located at 110 E. Fifth St., El Dorado.
