EPD searches for shooter

EL DORADO — A man allegedly fired a gun in the Atwoods Ranch Home parking lot on Tuesday night and El Dorado police are searching for a suspect, officials said.

Around 7:45 p.m., a man standing near a semi-trailer in the parking lot fired a gun in the air toward Junction City Road and walked westbound toward the Super 8 Motel and Holiday Inn Express, a witness said, according to an El Dorado Police Department report.

An Atwood employee said the man walked slowly toward the Holiday Inn Express and shot a gun in the direction between the gas station and a Simmons Bank branch. The employee said the man wore a black or green toboggan hat, a tan jacket with no hood, and stood about six feet tall.

After the suspect fired the gun, the employee ran back into the store and told the manager, who locked the doors until police arrived.

Around 8 p.m., police had part of the Exxon driveway blocked with their vehicles, an Exxon employee said.

The suspect fled before police could identify him and no shell casings were found. Witnesses are unsure if the man left in a vehicle or fled on foot.

“I didn’t see a vehicle leave,” the Atwood employee said.

No people were injured.

Police are actively investigating the incident.
