Barton Library plans Christmas Wonderland

Barton Public Library, 200 E. Fifth St., El Dorado, will present Christmas Wonderland from 6:30 until 7 p.m. Tuesday to “color your own Christmas ornament” and from 7 until 8 p.m., “A Miser Brothers’ Christmas” will be shown. Children are invited to “come in your pajamas and sip hot chocolate.”

Union County Relay for Life to host Gingerbread house contest

Today is the deadline to enter the Union County Relay for Life Gingerbread House Contest, which is set for Saturday at The Spot, 106 W. Main, between PJ’s Coffee and the El Dorado Creamery.

The entry fee is $10. Setup begins at 9:30 a.m., and the Gingerbread houses will be displayed from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for first place, $150; second place, $100; third place, $50; and People’s Choice, $50.

Relay will also be holding a bake sale Saturday on the sidewalk of the Union County Courthouse.

The winning entries will be displayed at City Hall from Monday through Dec. 14. Gingerbread houses must be picked up by 4 p.m. Dec. 15 or the Relay committee will dispose of them.

Entry fees may be mailed to Debbie Harbour, 101 W. Main, Suite 413, El Dorado.

Full House to play at American Legion

The band, Full House from Little Rock, will play from 8 p.m. until midnight Friday at the American Legion.

Everyone over 21 is invited to attend. No smoking will be allowed and an $8 cover will be charged.

‘Walks Through History’ tour planned in El Dorado

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program’s final 2017 “Walks Through History” tour will visit downtown El Dorado beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The historic district includes the city blocks surrounding the courthouse, as well as several blocks extending east along Main Street and south along Washington Avenue.

The tour will begin at the Union County Courthouse at 101 N. Washington and is being co-sponsored by Main Street El Dorado and the Arkansas Humanities Council.
