Phelps pitches PC past Junction City

PARKERS CHAPEL - Courtney Phelps set another milestone in her career at Parkers Chapel, as the senior surpassed 800 strikeouts in her career to lead the Lady Trojans to a 9-0 win over Junction City on Tuesday.

Phelps fired a two-hit shutout, striking out 15 to up her career total to 802, which is good for fourth best in state history.

The senior did not walk any batters.

Phelps nursed a 2-0 lead until the Lady Trojans (20-5) scored seven two-out runs in the sixth to break the game open.

Savannah Slaughter got the rally started with a single and stole second base. Kylie Jones then reached on a throwing error after hitting a grounder to shortstop that allowed Slaughter to score.

Jones took second on an error on the late throw home to nab Slaughter, stole third and scored on Jaycie Burns’ bloop single down the right-field line that landed just fair.

Allison Rogers then followed by crushing a 3-2 pitch over the fence in center for a two-run homer to extend the lead to 6-0.

Phelps then started the rally anew with a double off the fence in left-center, and Savannah Jones followed with a run-scoring double off the fence in center to give the Lady Trojans a 7-0 lead.

Kenlee McAuliffe, who went 2-for-4, laced a triple down the right-field line to score Jones.

Kaylin Waller then capped the scoring with an RBI double.

Slaughter had a perfect day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a trio of singles.

McAuliffe had a double and a triple with two RBIs in the win.

Charly Temple had both of the Lady Dragons’ hits in the game.

SMACKOVER - The Lady Bucks (28-2) banged out 15 hits en route to winning their regular season finale.

Tessa Watson, Karli Goocher and Abbi Crawford were each 3-for-3 for the Lady Bucks.

Goocher had two triples and three RBIs, while Crawford belted a solo homer in the third along with a double to finish with two RBIs.

Lydia Pullin went 2-for-2 with a double, while Reagan Richardson, Lexi Gilbert, Brooklyn Dees and Makayla Burroughs had one hit apiece.

Gilbert had a double and an RBI in the win.

Ashley Haynes picked up the win, allowing five hits and one run in three innings. She walked one and struck out four.

Mallory Brewer walked one and struck out six in two hitless innings in relief.
